Principal Application Security Engineer - Threat Modeling Automation Lead (AI Security)

Job Title: Principal Application Security Engineer Location Charlotte, NC (Preferred). Other Cyber hub locations, Irving, TX, Chandler, AZ Job Type: W2, Contract Must Haves Hands-On Software Engineering: Strong engineering background with the ability to understand, read, troubleshoot, and build solutions. Technology stack is less important than the ability to quickly learn and solve problems.Application Security (AppSec): Experience reviewing application architectures, identifying security weaknesses, and applying secure design principles.Threat Modeling: Must have led and conducted threat models personally. Should be able to explain end-to-end threat modeling activities, methodologies, findings, and remediation approaches.Security Automation: Experience automating security processes, integrating tools, and building scalable workflows rather than performing everything manually.AI / LLM Enablement: Comfortable leveraging tools such as Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Devin, or similar AI tools to improve engineering and security outcomes.Cloud & Modern Architecture Exposure: Understanding of cloud environments, APIs, distributed systems, and modern application architectures that are commonly assessed during threat modeling.Principal-Level Ownership: Ability to lead initiatives, influence teams, make technical decisions, and drive outcomes independently without extensive guidance.
